I have learned more about the POW's at Fort Custer from a fellow POW. He said they were treated very well. Working was optional and they were paid for their work. A sad time in Fort Custer's history, I am sure. If you would like to see pictures of some of the POW's at Fort Custer, I have a few and would be happy to share.
